Expansion Update - Fairy Tale Forest

Fairy Tale Forest

Nearly two years after it was announced, Give Kids The World’s Fairy Tale Forest project continues to take form. Upon completion, forty-two new castle and cottage-themed villas will help Give Kids The World provide accommodations for 7,500 families each year. Only through the unwavering support and commitment of generous local construction companies can these villas be completed. Two such companies are Johnson Brothers Corporation, and Modern Plumbing Industries, Inc.

A long-standing dedicated partner of GKTW, Johnson Brothers Corporation brings the experience and expertise needed to complete some of the infrastructure of an expanded Village.

Give Kids The World has been privileged to partner with Johnson Brothers for many years dating back to the World of Wonders expansion (WOW) in the late 1990’s. It was an easy decision for the company to work with the Village again on the latest expansion.

Last fall, Johnson Brothers worked tirelessly to complete the underground storm, sanitary and water work needed before construction on the new family villas could begin. In addition, Johnson Brothers has assisted the Village by identifying and introducing new companies and partnerships to help meet other critical expansion needs. This January, in honor of the proud partnership Johnson Brothers has with the Village, the company even dedicated a page to Give Kids The World in its 2008 calendar.

Modern Plumbing Industries, Inc. has been a partner of Give Kids The World for more than a decade. One of Central Florida’s premier plumbing contractors, Modern Plumbing has already completed installation of the underground plumbing for the first seven villas, and has committed to completing the project by supplying all plumbing labor for the rest of the Fairy Tale Forest.

Give Kids The World is proud to work with Johnson Brothers Corporation and Modern Plumbing Industries, Inc., along with all of our other devoted partners for their continued participating and effort as we work together to expand our Village.

What's New?

Have you ever encountered a busy signal when trying to fax the Give Kids The World Village Vacation Planning Services (VVPS) office?  If so, then we have great news for you; VVPS now has an additional toll-free fax number for Wish-Granting Organizations (WGO)! Our new number is 888-834-7407 and is available to our North American WGO’s. Don’t worry, we have not forgotten our international partners. Plans are underway to add an international fax number in the near future.

We hope this second fax line will make it easier to reach us and we look forward to your faxes and feedback.

Theme Park Reminders

When preparing Wish Families for their upcoming Give Kids The World family vacation, please share the following guideline information regarding their Give Kids The World Button and Special Assistance Passes, also called Guest Assistance Passes, when in use at the Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando theme parks. This important information will also be shared with all families during their Family Orientation session at the Village, but we encourage you to help us communicate the information below prior to their arrival.

WDW

GUEST ASSISTANCE PASS (GAP) at Walt Disney World:

  • Valid at all Fast Pass attractions
  • Use to enter through the Fast Pass or Handicap entrances
  • Not valid on transportation, food or character meet & greet lines
  • If using a stroller instead of a wheelchair, please stop at Disney’s Guest Relations desk to have your Guest Assistance Pass stamped

Universal Orlando

GUEST ASSISTANCE PASS (GAP) at Universal Orlando:

Fast Pass is Universal Orlando’s equivalent of Disney’s GAP.  Universal Orlando’s Fast Pass is offered to the general public for $55/Fast Pass. Fortunately, it is complimentary to all Give Kids The World families. As a result, these special express Fast Pass lines allow visiting Families to cut down their wait time before getting on their favorite attraction.

  • Valid at all Universal Express attractions
  • Use to enter through the Express Entrance or the Handicap entrance
  • Not valid on transportation, food or character Meet & Greet lines

Lastly, please remind families to wear their Give Kids The World button when visiting all theme park attractions. Thank you.

Special Meet & Greet Arrangements

Please advise our VVPS department of all character and theme park Meet & Greet arrangements you have made on behalf of your Wish Families prior to their arrival.  Often, families misplace their documents and ask Give Kids The World staff for their necessary paperwork. We are able to provide better assistance to the family if we have copies of each family’s Meet & Greet information on file prior to their visit.

In addition, we highly recommend that special Meet & Greet arrangements not be scheduled on the first day of the family’s Wish Trip. Unforeseen travel delays, shuttle schedules, and other mishaps can sometimes delay a family’s arrival to Orlando or to the Village, and we would not want them to miss their special Meet & Greet.

Important Note: It is the responsibility of each WGO to ensure that all Meet & Greets plans and appointments are made prior to each family’s arrival at Give Kids The World.

Give Kids The World Forms

Our previous policy requested that both forms and payment be submitted to Give Kids The World two weeks prior to the family’s arrival. In July 2006, we began a new procedure of invoicing WGO’s for Wish related fees after the Wish was completed. Both WGO’s and Give Kids The World have found this new procedure to be helpful and more efficient.

With this change, Give Kids The World has encountered one area of concern.  Since the custom was to send both forms and payment at the same time, some WGO’s have continued to send their paperwork along with their payment. This can cause challenges for us because the paperwork may arrive after the Wish has been completed.  PLEASE be sure to send all forms as soon as you have them available.  We accept scanned copies that can be emailed to our VVPS department at VVP@gktw.org, or by fax to either 407-396-8847 or our new toll-free number at 888-834-7407. The deadline to submit all forms is two weeks prior to arrival, although we encourage you to send them in earlier if the paperwork is complete.

Finally, please ensure that all forms are signed, dated within six months of the trip date and “Witnessed” where requested.  Should the witness signature or the date be missing, we must ask families to sign/date our AB Form again when they check-in at Give Kids The World. (We will witness their signatures.) This is an inconvenience for arriving families and we respectfully request that extra attention be made to thoroughly complete all forms. Thank you for your cooperation.
